No. It is strictly read-only, and we prove it rather than promise it. On Magento and PHP sites every query is a single SELECT statement, your database user is write-tested during setup and refused if it can write, and the bridge re-enforces read-only on its side. On Shopify we read the access scopes your token actually grants and refuse the connection outright if any of them can write — re-checked automatically every 15 minutes, because scopes can be changed after setup. There is deliberately no tool that can write.

Only if you want to. Where remote MySQL is allowed we connect directly over SSL. Where it's blocked, you upload a small signed PHP bridge that keeps your database entirely local — MCP Dock talks to it over HTTPS.

Any Claude plan that supports custom connectors (claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Cowork on a paid plan). You add your private connector URL under Settings → Connectors.

No app store, no OAuth, no review process. In your Shopify admin you create a custom app (Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps), tick the read-only Admin API scopes, install it, and paste the access token into MCP Dock. It takes about two minutes, the portal walks you through every click, and we verify the token against Shopify — including checking it carries no write access — before storing it encrypted.

We’d rather a tool be absent than give you a confident wrong answer.

One honest caveat we surface in every answer: Shopify and Magento define revenue differently (Shopify nets off returns, Magento doesn’t), so every Shopify figure carries a note saying exactly what it measures. We label the difference rather than pretending it isn’t there.
